Anti-Muslim writers/bloggers invent phony 'jihadi' threats

Richard Bartholomew lists recent anti-Muslim writers/bloggers who have made bogus claims of being targeted by "jihadis," usually to inflate their reputation to sell books or make money on the speaking circuit. The most recent incident was when some guy named Sookhdeo claimed that because Indigo Joe made fun of his name that his safety was put at risk.

I've concluded that alot of the taunting and baiting that's produced in the more obscure corners of the anti-Muslim blogosphere represents the deep desire to provoke "jihadis" to make threats and thereby validate the drama of the bloggers' identities as armchair Internet warriors/secret agents. The claustrophobic sense of an otherwise mediocre existence that must drive such behavior merits pity, not anger.
